On December 22, 2021, 1 million doses of Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine arrived at Yangon International Airport from China.
A donation ceremony was held, which was attended by representatives of the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar, officials from Myanmar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, officials from Myanmar's Ministry of Health and Sports, and officials from the Yangon region of Myanmar's Public Health and Treatment department.
The Chinese ambassador to Myanmar Chen Hai explained that this donation was the first batch of a two part donation and that a second batch would be arriving in early 2022.
In 2021 and 2022, the Chinese Government donated approximately 23.7 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines to the Government of Myanmar.
