On August 18, 2020, the Chinese Embassy provided medical equipment to the Bone Marrow Transplant Center of the Syrian University Children's Hospital. This donation will be used to improve the medical services in the Bone Marrow Transplant Center at the hospital.
The total contents and value of the donation is unknown, with the donation being referred to as "medical supplies." An interview with the Minister of Education of Syria, Bassam Ibrahim, noted the donation included computers. A handover ceremony was held for this donation at the Ministry of Education in Syria.
China’s Ambassador to Syria, Feng Biao, and the head of the University Children’s Hospital, Rustom Makkieh, attended the ceremony and signed the handover certificate.
Chen Wenlin, the Commercial Counselor of the Embassy, and Bassam Ibrahim, the Syrian Minister of Higher Education, also attended the ceremony. The Syrian Children's Hospital is the affiliated hospital of Damascus University in the capital of Syria. It is the largest children's general hospital in the country and provides free medical care for Syrian children.
