On March 28, 2020, the Chinese Government dispatched a medical team of 8 experts to Pakistan to assist the government in its fight against COVID-19.
The team was organized by China’s National Health Commission and the Health Commission of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The team was led by medical expert Ma Minghui.
While in Pakistan, the medical expert team will conduct business exchanges with representatives of Pakistani doctors, provide consultations of pandemic control, conduct treatment and laboratory work, and train Pakistani medical staff. The medical expert team will stay in Pakistan for two weeks and will also visit Punjab and Sindh provinces.
A welcome ceremony was held for the medical expert team at the Islamabad International Airport in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan- during which the team handed over 10 tons of medical supplied to representatives from the Pakistani Government (see linked Record ID#95080).
China’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Yao Jing, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Director of the Pakistan Health Commission, Major General Akram, and the health advisor to Pakistan’s prime minister attended the ceremony.
