Grant Description

In 2021, the Chinese Government donated approximately 350,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccines to the Government of Namibia.

The Chinese Government delivered 100,000 donated doses of Sinovac Covid-19 vaccines to the Government of Zambia on March 16, 2021.

The shipment arrived at Hosea Kutako International Airport and Namibian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah attended the vaccine handover ceremony.

Then, on July 16, 2021, the Chinese Government delivered another 100,000 donated doses of Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccines (worth RMB 11,050,000) to the Government of Namibia.

According to the UNICEF COVID-19 Vaccine Market Dashboard, the price of a single Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine dose is $18 (https://www.oecd.org/officialdocuments/publicdisplaydocumentpdf/?cote=DCD/DAC/STAT(2022)33&docLanguage=En). As such, AidData has estimated the monetary value of the July 2021 donation as $4.5 million.
In July 2021, the Government of Namibia separated purchased 250,000 Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine doses.
