On February 7, 2022, China and Uganda signed a grant agreement worth USD 2,390,000 for the implementation of Phase III of the China-FAO South-South Cooperation project in support of the agricultural sector strategic plan in Uganda.
As part of Phase III, China will send 18 Chinese agricultural experts to Uganda to advance effective technologies aimed to enhance Uganda's food security. More than 9,600 farmers and 200 Ugandan agricultural personnel will be trained.
On January 20, the launching ceremony of the third phase of the China-FAO-Uganda South-South Cooperation Project, jointly organized by the Chinese Embassy in Uganda, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Representative Office in Uganda, and the Ugandan Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, was held at the China-Uganda Friendship Agricultural Demonstration Center in Kajiangxi, Uganda.
