On December 28, 2020, Zhang Maoyu, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), signed an agreement with Zhao Houlin, secretary-general of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), to help facilitate Uganda's national information and communication development strategy by providing technical assistance and training.
The project, the first cooperation agreement signed by the two sides under the South-South Cooperation Assistance Fund, aims to help Uganda improve its information and communication level and advance the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
China signs deal with ITU to lift Uganda's communication level Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve. Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
