Grant Description

On June 11, 2020, the Chinese government provided a second batch of anti-epidemic materials to the Central African Republic.

These materials were sent in response to a notice from the Central African Republic that test kits were running out in Africa. The donation included test kits and other anti-epidemic materials.

In addition to the Chinese government and the Chinese embassy in the Central African Republic, contributions to the donation came from the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, China Railway 11th Bureau (a subsidiary of China Railway Construction), and Gezhouba Group. The China Railway 11th Bureau's contribution consisted of at least 5,000 nucleic acid testing kits.

The contributions by the other entities and the monetary value of these donations are unknown.

A handover ceremony was held for this donation at Bangui International Airport located in Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic.

Central African President Faustin-Archange Touadéra, China’s Ambassador to Central Africa, Chen Dong, the Central African Minister of Health, the Minister of Economic Cooperation, and a WHO Representative in Central Africa attended the ceremony.

According to the Chinese Embassy in the Central African Republic, this is a second batch of materials provided by the Chinese government. Details on the first batch are provided in Record ID#92974.
