Grant Description
On October 21, 2020, the Chinese Embassy in Malawi donated the Chinese Ambassador Scholarship, a grant of MK 20,000,000, to the First Lady of Malawi's Shaping Our Future Foundation. The foundation works to improve educational opportunities for vulnerable girls.
Ambassador Liu Hongyang, the First Lady of Malawi, Monica Chakwera, and the Deputy Minister of Education, Madaliso Kambova, attended the ceremony at the Kamuzu Presidential Palace and delivered speeches.
During the ceremony, the Chinese Embassy also handed-over 100,000 masks for Malawian schoolchildren returning to in-person learning (Project 93156).
