Grant Description
On December 10, 2015, the Chinese Government and the Government of South Sudan signed a financing agreement for Phase 1 of Rumbek Kiir Mayardit Women's Hospital Technical Cooperation Project (captured via Record ID#53336).
The purpose of this project was to maintain and support the ongoing operations of the Kiir Mayardit Women's Hospital in Rumbek. Phase 1 commenced in May 2017 and officially reached completion on July 5, 2019.
Phase 2 of the Rumbek Kiir Mayardit Women's Hospital Technical Cooperation Project (captured via Record ID#92076) also sought to maintain and support the ongoing operations of the Kiir Mayardit Women's Hospital in Rumbek. It commenced on May 23, 2019 and reached completion on May 22, 2022.
Salva Kiir Mayardit Hospital — also known as Rumbek/Rumbik Hospital and Rumbek Kiir Mayardit Women's Hospital — was built with financial support from the Chinese Government (as captured via Record ID#47301 and Record ID#53331). It has 50 beds and a total construction area of about 3,700 square meters.
The hospital began operations in 2014 and it is reportedly one of the most modern hospitals in South Sudan.
