On July 23, 2020, the Huishan District of China donated 40,000 surgical masks to Zacatecas, Mexico.

This donation was coordinated by the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the federal Ministry of Health and the Mexican Consulate in Shanghai. The masks have three medical grade layers and will promote health prevention in Mexico. The monetary value of this donation is unknown.

Following this donation, Gu Wenlong, the Vice Mayor of Huishan, China, addressed President Ulises Mejía Haro and the Zacatecan society in a virtual message.

During this message, he stated that the masks will be distributed across medical units, small businesses and health booths in the metropolitan area of Zacatecas.
