On April 21, 2020, China donated two thermographic cameras to the Mongolian State Emergency Commission. The cameras are able to scan 15 people each at a time to determine their body temperature. Each is worth about USD 40,000. They were made by Dahua Technologies.
The goal of the donation was to allow Mongolia to increase its coal and oil exports to China, which had stalled after pandemic-related border controls were imposed.
