On December 20, 2017, the Chinese Government committed over PGK 2 million of medical equipment to help establish a minimally invasive urology surgery center at Port Moresby General Hospital in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.
The equipment was donated on two batches, a first donation on July 31, 2018 (captured in Record ID#63833) and the second donation on February 21, 2019 (captured in Record ID#63834).
Among the new equipment donated to the hospital are a fiber ureterorenoscope, pneumatic lithotripters and instruments for Bipolar Plasmakinetic transurethral resection of the prostate.
According to Wei Ying He, part of China's medical team in Papua New Guinea, [they] "believe we will be able to establish the best minimally invasive surgery centre in the South Pacific after 3-5-years, and provide first-class medical services for the local people in Papua New Guinea and the people of South Pacific".
Due to an estimated value of the equipment donation recorded in project #63833, the value of this agreement has been recorded as 'unknown', however it is known to be in excess of PGK 2 million.
