Grant Description

On May 30, 2020, China Development Bank donated 18 high-quality respirators to the Ecuadorian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Migration. According to the Ministry, the donation is valued around USD $164,000. The respirators were to be distributed among public hospitals to help combat COVID-19 in Ecuador.

Transportation costs for the donation were covered by the Banco del Pichincha's CRISFE Foundation.

Donation logistics were facilitated by Ecuador's Ministries of Finance, Public Health, and Foreign Affairs, as well as the Ecuadorian Embassy in China.

The ventilators arrived at Mariscal Sucre International Airport in the evening of May 30, 2020, and a handover ceremony was held.

Ambassador Chen Guoyou, Ecuadorian Foreign Minister José Valencia, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy, Chen Feng, director of the Banco del Pichincha, and representatives from the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Ecuador attended the ceremony.

Ecuador's Ministries of Finance, Public Health, and Foreign Affairs, as well as the Banco del Pichincha, are said to be receiving the donation. The Ministry of Public Health, however, has been coded as the recipient (and the other organizations as implementing agencies) given that the respirators were to be distributed to public hospitals.
