On April 25, 2020, a plane from China carrying 16 tons of donated medical supplies arrived in Cambodia. It contained 11 types of items worth around $1 million.
The shipment was unloaded at the Phnom Penh International Airport to help the Southeast Asian country stop the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
The handover ceremony was held at the Phnom Penh International Airport on April 25, 2020 between Minister of Defence Teah Banh’s adviser Nem Sowath and Li Jingfeng, the military attaché at the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia.
The 16 tons of donated medical supplies consisted of 20,000 N95 face masks, 500,000 surgical masks, 500 medical goggles and 10,000 pairs of medical gloves.
There were also 1,000 medical hats, 10,000 protection suits, 20,000 nucleic acid detection kits, 100 medical beds, 100 handheld thermometers, 2,000 bottles (500ml) of disinfection gel, and 100 medical waste bins.
This was reportedly the third batch of anti-epidemic materials provided by the Chinese Ministry of Defense to the Cambodian Ministry of Defense.
The Chinese Ministry of Defense previously donated 2 tons of anti-epidemic materials to the Cambodian Ministry of Defense.
