Grant Description

Lancang-Mekong Fund loans USD 6.7 million to Myanmar to support 22 projects In March, 23, 2020, the signing ceremony was held for a USD 6,788,850 million loan from the Lancang-Mekong Special Fund to Myanmar. Funds transferred from the LMC Special Fund are concessional loans (see Record ID#49339).

The funds are intended to support 22 projects in Myanmar with a focus on agriculture, education, and information technology. It is unclear how the funds will be allocated.

This transfer of funds is part of China's greater plan, announced in 2016, to provide USD 300 million to Lancang-Mekong countries over five years. The signing ceremony for this loan was held in Naypyidaw, the capital of Myanmar.
