Grant Description
On September 30th, 2021, Chinese Ambassador to Kiribati Tang Songgen and Minister for Education Alexander Teabo signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on education, including student exchanges, language teaching, intercollegiate exchanges, and ICT Education support, as well as ten annual scholarships for students from Kiribati to pursue studies in China.
On December 1st, 2021, the Chinese Embassy in Kiribati and the Ministry of Education in Kiribati jointly held the launching ceremony of the first round of scholarships from the Chinese government.
These scholarships will fund high school students in Kiribati with outstanding performance and willingness to study abroad in China for an undergraduate and even higher level of education. The Chinese government recruited the first batch of 10 Kiribatian students for the 2022-2023 academic year.
