From March through May of 2019, China donated a total of 269 tons of medical and humanitarian aid to Venezuela.
The aid came in four batches; the first batch arrived at Simon Bolivar International Airport on March 29th and weighed 75 tons.
It contained medical supplies for the entire outpatient network, medications for diabetic patients, pain relievers and surgical materials. The second batch arrived on May 13th and was 71 tons.
It contained 1,525,400 units of medicines and 450,000 pairs of surgical medical supplies used to treat asthmatic patients and pregnant women. The third batch arrived on May 16th and was 64 tons.
It contained medical-surgical material necessary for public hospitals and the Venezuelan Institute of Social Security (IVSS). The fourth batch arrived on May 27th and was 68 tons.
Handover ceremonies were held at the delivery of the first and fourth batches, attended by the Ambassador of China to Venezuela and other officials. The aid was given in response to US sanctions on Venezuela.
