Prior to November 5, 2019, the Chinese Government provided KGS 62 million soms for the construction of a water reservoir in the village of Kara-Oi, Issyk-Kul district.
The reservoir was to provide irrigation water to over 700 hectares of land and had a capacity of 0.5 million cubic meters.
The construction was completed on or around November 5, 2019, with the reservoir set to open shortly thereafter, Further details are unknown.
1. It is unclear whether the relationship between this project and Phase I of Agricultural Irrigation Reconstruction Project, ID#54380, which is financed by a 2015 $32 million USD Chinese Government grant, was expected to be completed in 2021, and included construction of a 21.3 irrigation canal in the village of Kara-O within the Issyk-Kul region. It is possible that this project is a subproject of that project; for now, to avoid duplicate, AidData has marked the umbrella field of this project as True. This issue merits further investigation.
