Grant Description

On September 6, 2019, the Chinese Embassy offers 30 scholarships to the same group of students that received the scholarships in 2018 at Makerere University.

In February 2019, the Chinese Embassy offered another 105 million Shillings to support these students for their 3rd year of study.

The students were chosen from many applicants from different colleges of Makerere University who were underprivileged but academically outstanding.

There are two scholarships that were granted: the Ambassador’s Award for Excellence and the Ambassador’s Award for Friendship to Makerere University continuing students. Prof.

Barnabas Nawangwe, the Makerere University Vice Chancellor on Thursday hailed the people of the Republic of China for their generosity towards Makerere University and for supporting students' access to higher education.
