Grant Description
On November 6, 2018, the Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Senegal and the Senegalese Minister of Sports Matar Bâ signed an agreement to provide a grant of 40 billion CFA franc for stadium restoration work across Senegal, with 20 billion CFA francs allocated to help rehabilitate and renovate 3 stadiums the Eli Manel Fall stadiums in Diourbel, Lamine Guèye in Kaolack and Aline Sitoé Diatta in Ziguinchor.
These stadiums were previously restored by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce through a 2006 agreement (Record ID#1608).
The Minister of Sport Matar Ba also noted that this project covers, inter alia, sports equipment and facilities, football, basketball and handball fields, athletic tracks, decorations and decorations, electrical systems and mechanical and structural structures (According to ghayat). The work was scheduled to start in late 2019, however it was delayed because of the COVID pandemic.
Eventually, Chinese engineers arrived in Senegal and received by the Senegalese officials on December 15, 2020. They announced they would start the work shortly (according to wiw sports).
On January 14, 2021, Chinese engineers examined the status of the Lamine Gueye stadium and announced they would start the rehabilitation work soon. However, it is unclear whether they have conducted similar research for other stadiums. It is also unclear whether implementation has started (according to Teranga news).
In the agreement, it is indicated that 20 billion CFA franc is used for these 3 stadiums while the other half 20 billion is used for the Léopold Sedar Senghor Stadium (recorded in #59514).

The project is linked to #59514, because there seems to be only one agreement, in which 40 billion CFA franc was granted but used for different projects. Since it is clear 20 billion is used for the LSS stadium, 2 separate projects are created.No reports outline that the Ministry of Commerce is responsible for funding this agreement, however as the agreement was signed by representatives of the Chinese embassy, and as previous rehabilitation works were financed by the Ministry of Commerce it is provided as the funding agency.
