Grant Description
On April 9th, 2020, a 10-member medical team established by the National Health Commission of China was sent to Kazakhstan to provide aid in the COVID-19 pandemic. The Xinjiang Health Commission is responsible for the organization of the team. The team consists of experts in the fields of respiratory disease, intensive care, infectious disease.
The team also brought medical masks, protective equipment, non-invasive ventilators, and other donated materials.
The team brought 49,600 disposable medical masks, 4,800 medical N95 masks, 2,000 sets of medical protective clothing, and 2 non-invasive ventilators.
The first round of medical supplies was provided to Almaty, Kazakhstan but the team will also visit Nur-Sultan and Karaganda, Kazakhstan on April 15. In total, the team is to spend 15 days in Kazakhstan, departing on April 24, 2020.
The team will be working to provide COVID-19 relief while also providing improvements to the overall medical system in Kazakhstan. The medical supplies are estimated to be worth USD 1 million.
