Grant Description

On November 28, 2018, a group of 8 Chinese medical experts was sent to the Eye Hospital of Al-Nilain University in Khartoum, Sudan to conduct free surgeries on Sudanese cataract patients. This program is a part of the Chinese aid program to Sudan, known as "Brightness Action 2018" (“光明行”).

The program is implemented by China Xi'an 1st Hospital and is co-launched by Khartoum State's Health Ministry and the Economic and Commercial Counselor's Office of the Chinese Embassy in Sudan. The medical team dispatched had previously conducted surgeries in Sierra Leone, Senegal, and Chad. The program lasted for 20 days and was completed on December 18, 2018.

A total of 241 surgeries were conducted.
