Grant Description

In September 2019, the Chinese government dispatched its 23rd peacekeeping mission troupe to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The team had returned to China on September 16, 2020.

According to CCTV via the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation the peacekeeping mission had over 200 members, with 90 officers and soldiers dispatched in the first batch (88 of the 90 were members of the engineering team).

The team had completed 53 engineering tasks in one year, invested 19,437 man-hours, mobilized 6,520 units of equipment, repaired 62.64 kilometers of roads, leveled 20,216 square meters of ground, and pulled 30,250 square meters of earth and stone.

The team had also destroyed more than 1,700 pieces of used ammunition and carried out more than 10 missions of humanitarian aid. The soldiers were commended by MONUSCO their supporting partner.
