Grant Description

This funding will support three institutions of higher learning that provide education and training for the next generation of Georgian leaders: the American Academy in Tbilisi (AAT), the Georgian Institute of Public Administration (GIPA), and the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies (GFSIS).

At the AAT, students develop critical thinking skills, engage in projects of civic participation, and receive a quality U.S. high school education with instruction provided by a cadre of Georgian teachers who have been educated or trained in the U.S.

GIPA trains masters degree students for effective public policy and public administration implementation, primarily as civil servants, to further develop Georgias democratic and market-oriented environment.

GIPA also provides masters-level journalism media management training that supports the ongoing development of independent media in Georgia and throughout the South Caucasus.

GFSIS is an independent, non-profit think tank dedicated to improving public policy decision-making through research and analysis, training of policymakers and policy analysts, and public education about strategic issues facing Georgia in the 21st century.
