Time-off work due to sickness, informal care giving, and health-related productivity losses are estimated to cost a staggering £100billion annually (Public Health England 2020). Poor mental health costs UK employers up to £45billion/year (Deloitte 2020). Our healthcare systems are stretched, and many people are left waiting for months or years for non-urgent healthcare consultations.
NHS Trusts are pleading for help, exhausted by heavy demand and unable to clear backlogs due to severe staff shortages (The Guardian Apr 2022).
The traditional work environment has changed, accelerated by Covid-19, a hybrid (work/home) office is increasingly popular, particularly for digital nomads choosing remote working as a lifestyle. The dynamic nature of work means the traditional workplace interaction, where a quick conversation with the occupational health technician, an important link for providing and facilitating access to personalised healthcare was possible due to vicinity is no longer easy or convenient.
The pandemic has changed people's perceptions on how to access healthcare, with social inequalities and mental health issues on the rise and the continued drive to go mobile (GP's arranging calls over in-person consultations for non-priority cases), more people are using digital alternatives to access healthcare and this experience is becoming the 'new normal'. Kinseed a digital healthcare platform provider is collaborating with specialist care providers (NHS acute transport teams, Cordell Health an occupational health social enterprise, West Midlands Innovation Health and Wellbeing Network) and together we are making the transition to the 'new normal' easier.
By putting the power in the hands of the people to access real-time personalised healthcare, and affordable enough for care providers to implement, it is an important change for all.
The 'new normal' in healthcare ensures no one gets left behind, access is easy (face2face, online, remotely) and providers are empowered to swiftly offer specialised services (real-time clinical assessment, joined-up referrals, and improved patient flow). We are collaborating to maximise the use of innovative and modern technologies to improve the health of our nation.
Together we are tackling health inequalities, adding value, and reducing impact of travel on the environment. For example, on average, Cordell Health technicians travel around 22,000miles per year to deliver health programmes. It is estimated, that the 'new normal 'will negate up to 75% travel time, equating to a reduction of almost 6,000kg carbon emissions from reduced travel alone. SwiftCare in healthcare-helping people and the environment stay healthy!
