**Public description**
New Motion Labs (NML), a cutting-edge British innovator of roller chain drive technology and seeks to develop and validate NML's innovative chain drive system, 'Enduo', enabling a leap forward for gas vehicle replacements by giving a revolutionary step-change or all E-cargo bikes in energy efficiency, durability, and reliability.
Initially spun-out from University College London and steered by the Deep Science Ventures and the Advanced Propulsion Centre Accelerator programmes.
NML's innovation, 'Enduo', is underpinned by the biggest breakthrough in mechanical power transfer in over a century: the ability to utilise both sides of a sprocket tooth, also known as Dual Engagement.
NML are looking to apply this technology first to e-cargo bikes and provide the first purpose-built transmission system for all e-cargo bikes , something no direct competitor provides. Enduo has the potential to revolutionise transmission efficiency, wear performance and mechanical-parts lifetimes.
We are applying for an innovation loan to be able to offer the revolutionary Enduo drivetrain for all 132 existing e-cargo bikes from 25 international manufacturers and expand in the in the fast-growing and environmentally-friendly cargo e-bikes market. This innovation loan will enable New Motion Labs to fully capture the opportunity of being the first to market drivetrain specifically for e-cargo bikes in the UK and internationally.
This will be achieved by firstly designing, testing and validating enduo designs through digital and physical testing at the University of Bath and in-field with testing partners. This will be followed by an in-depth Value management and Design for Manufacture study in order to make sure than each product can be manufactured at scale to a high-quality standard.
