Grant Description

The overarching goal of this project is to develop a model of specialized, high-quality recovery and reintegration services for Afghan boy trafficking victims (up to the age of 18) and meet the urgent need for this vulnerable segment of the population.

Specifically, it will identify high-risk communities and develop an education model for high-risk communities. .The projects first phase will involve research on types and trends of trafficking of boys in four distinct geographic regions and greatly expand existing knowledge regarding the nature and magnitude of the problem.

Then, a model for gender-specific and holistic recovery services will be developed and piloted in one high-risk community. Rehabilitation services will be designed, implemented, and evaluated in the selected high-risk community. The project will also develop a model for community education, sharing risks and recommendations related to boys.

The model will be piloted in a high-risk community and help community members understand the ramifications of trafficking, empower them to assist in the safe reintegration of victims, and help them to prevent future trafficking of boys.

All the findings of this two-year project will be disseminated throughout Afghanistan with the ultimate goal of improving services and recovery options for Afghanistans neglected boys.
