Grant Description

The International Organization for Migration was awarded a grant to launch a public awareness campaign targeting key areas in Afghanistan bordering Pakistan, Iran and Tajikistan.

IOM is working to mobilize community members, government officials, religious leaders and social workers through a series of roundtable discussions.

The project is also focused on building the capacity of the local media and supporting the production of anti-trafficking media spots for nationwide broadcasting.

IOM is also organizing training sessions for teachers and encouraging them to disseminate TIP information to their students.

We will recommend that IOM consider partnering with Benai Service Organization (BSO), a local Afghan organization that the embassy recently met with following submission of a small public awareness proposal on TIP, in order to continue building the capacity of local organizations to combat TIP.
