Grant Description

G/TIP awarded a grant to The Protection Project (TPP) at Johns Hopkins University in 2008 to assist the Iraqi government with developing anti-trafficking legislation and to raise general awareness of TIP in Iraq by training representatives of Iraqi civil society organizations.

TPP assisted government officials and members of the Iraqi Parliament in drafting comprehensive anti-trafficking legislation.

TPP will use these funds to continue providing technical assistance and ongoing consultation to members of the Shura Council, Parliamentarians, key government ministries, and civil society representatives, including women's organizations, in passing and implementing the draft anti-trafficking legislation.
