Grant Description

International Research and Exchanges Board (IREX) intends to provide support and mentoring to two key parastatal organizations (The National Council for Women and The National Council of Childhood and Motherhood) to strengthen their understanding of human trafficking issues.

IREX will increase these organizations. ability to engage and lead government and civil society stakeholders in developing mechanisms for collaboration, information-sharing, and the improvement of prevention, protection, and prosecution programs.

IREX will help identify and strengthen the capacity of the NGO sector in Cairo to address anti-trafficking issues and improve collaboration among programs.

In addition, this project will develop a matrix of relevant NGOs throughout Egypt, identify civil society organizations with capacity and interest in anti-trafficking issues, and train these organizations through extensive workshops.

In this way, IREX will increase civil society understanding of TIP issues and foster greater dialogue and collaboration with the Government of Egypt on TIP issues.
