Grant Description

IOM will increase the ability of the Government of Timor-Leste to prosecute trafficking offenders, improve the quality and quantity of protection services available to victims of trafficking, and increase the capacity and coordination of Timor-Leste's institutions.

IOM plans to achieve this by establishing a legal working group that will draft recommendations for comprehensive counter-trafficking legislation as well as conduct workshops for government and community leaders.

In addition, IOM will establish a shelter and provide direct assistance to victims, such as assisting in return and reintegration activities. IOM will provide training to frontline and senior law enforcement officers, shelter staff, and other service providers.
