Protection of Collections at Risk at Jebel Barkal and Kerma Archaeological Sites

The war in Sudan has made museums, archaeological sites, and traditional cultural practices vulnerable to loss and destruction, necessitating immediate recording and physical protection.

The project aims to secure important collections of archaeological and ethnographic artifacts from Jebel Barkal and Kerma, ensuring their preservation and engaging local communities in heritage protection.

Activities include cleaning, recording, packing, and creating safe storage conditions for artifacts, as well as involving communities in museum development and support initiatives.
