Grant Description

Traditional public stepwells, or hitis, have provided water to communities in the Kathmandu Valley for over 1,500-years.

This project involves the conservation and reactivation of a section of the stepwell network to restore its socio-cultural significance and support modern communities adversely impacted by mounting water insecurity.
