Grant Description

To support the survey of historic sites and a survey of the Siyu Fort; to conduct an assessment of traditional crafts in the village of Siyu; and to establish a resource center to promote awareness of the cultural resources. These activities will better ensure the conservation of these resources.

The area is reputed for its richness in cultural remains but is isolated from the rest of Kenya, threatened by vandalism and treasure hunters.
