Grant Description

This project will use satellite images to detect lost archaeological sites and monitor site change over time, in conjunction with subsequent ground truth analysis and survey as part of projects in the Northeast Delta, Western Sinai Coast and Middle Egypt. This research is significant because virtually no work like it has been conducted within Egypt.

This project will train Supreme Council of Antiquities of Egypt officials in the uses of remote sensing through computer and ground-truth training classes, benefiting future generations of Egyptian Egyptologists.
