Grant Description

The primary purpose of the project is to undertake the first systematic evaluation of archaeological resources along Kenyas northern coast. The project is highly significant to Kenyas contemporary understanding of its Swahili coastal culture and history. Several of the sites to be investigated are in imminent danger of destruction due to changing patterns of land use.
