This grant supports a needs assessment for the restoration and maintenance of the fifth century BC Yeha Temple in northern Ethiopia. The ancient temple is the oldest surviving monument in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The project costs include topographic surveying of the site, background study, study of the condition of the rapidly deteriorating monument, and preparation of the conservation proposal.
