To support the preservation of the monastery, protect it from looting, and fortify structural remains.

With the site soon opening to the public, conservation efforts need to be urgently addressed especially with the recent discovery of 5th century Buddhist mural paintings.

Taxila is recognized as an important city on the Indus River and a center of Buddhist learning from the 5th century B.C. to the 2nd century A.D.
