Grant Description

On March 1, 2017, the Government of China granted the World Health Organization (WHO) USD$75,000 for emergency refugee relief. The aid was intended to respond to civil unrest in Syria and assist refugees displaced and injured by the conflict.

The grant contributed to the UNCHR's 2017 Syria Regional Refugee and Resilience plan (3RP) for Iraq (UN project code SRRP-17/MS/109730). The 2017 3RP requested USD$5.58bn for the implementation of its plan, but only USD$3.04bn was raised by member states. The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) reported that China's contribution was paid.

This project is captured by UNOCHA flow #159612.
