Grant Description

On December 13, 2018, China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) donated six water purifiers to be used by residents of villages in the East and North Central provinces of Sri Lanka.

The purifiers were presented by CMEC Atana Water Plant Project Executive Manager Yang Wei to the Mihintal Temple presided over by Varawakhan Gunaviwa Dehama Rattana Himi. Each of the purifiers donated by CMEC can provide drinking water for 250 families (1500 families total).

The machines are to be installed in areas that are worst affected by chronic kidney disease due to the lack of clean drinking water.

Chief Engineer of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) Buddhika Hettiarachchi and relevant agencies of the North Central Province will be responsible for supervising the installation and use of the purifiers.
