Grant Description
In May 2017, the agreement on the fourth phase of the medical service cooperation project was signed.
On June, 25, 2018, China dispatched the fourth medical team to Dominica-China Friendship Hospital (中多友好医院 in Chinese, renamed after the expansion of the old Princess Margaret Hospital). The umbrella project for all phases of the medical team project in Dominica is #73211.
In February 2017, Jin Xiaotao, deputy director of the National Health and Family Planning Commission, led a delegation to visit Dominica and negotiated with the Dominica government on the "Protocol for Sending Medical Teams to Dominica." The medical service cooperation project agreement was officially signed in May 2017.
However, the dispatch was delayed due to hurricane Maria and its aftermath.
The medical aid team had been sent by Guangdong Sun Yet-sen University ( 广东中山大学 in Chinese) and was composed of four directors and deputy chief doctors from the Department of Urology, Oncology, Cardiovascular Medicine, and Opthalmology.
The team provided locals with professional diagnosis and treatments, as well as helping local hospitals build specialties. A second subunit replaced the first subunit in June 2019 and returned to China in July 2020.
