On 2 February 2007, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir attended the signing of seven agreements, one of which for humanitarian aid in light of the on-going war in Darfur.
On 30 April and 3 May 2007, government officials followed up on this pledge by signing an exchange of letters for this project. The aid materials were divided into six different batches.
The fourth batch worth 20 million RMB is captured in Record ID#2405 and the fifth batch worth 40 million RMB is recorded in Record ID#2288. Evidence of the remaining four batches is unclear.
The Chinese Ambassador and the Sudanese Humanitarian Aid Commissioner signed a handover certificate for all six batches on 8 December 2007 marking project completion.
The Chinese Ministry of Commerce reported that this project was divided into six batches (source ID 135431). However, China Daily (source ID 109184) suggests there are only five worth a total of 80 million RMB. AidData relies on six batches since it is derived from an official source.
