In May 2018, the Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Chinese Government held a signing ceremony for an RMB 100 million grant.
This grant will be used to carry out archaeological excavations, restoration, conservation, and museification of three ancient sites: Kum-Dobo (Kochkor-Bashy), Mynakeldi, and Burana (Balasagyn). This grant is part of an economic and technical cooperation agreement.
In addition, the agreement provides for the training of Kyrgyz archaeologists and museum experts at universities in China. Under the agreement, the Chinese side undertakes to train Kyrgyz students in the areas of archeology and museology. This grant is a part of a total RMB 600 million grant contribution from a series of ETCAs signed on the same day.
