On 23 April 2020, the Chinese government donated USD $112,325 worth of medical supplies to Jamaica under the Anti-COVID-19 Medical Supplies Project.
This donation included 1,000 disposable coveralls for medical isolation; 200 infrared thermometers; 1000 pairs of glasses for health protection; 1000 pairs of surgical gloves sterilized disposable rubber; and 1,000 pairs of shoe covers for medical isolation.
The Chinese Ambassador to Jamaica, Tian Qi, and the Director of Policy, Planning and Development at the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOH), Howard Lynch, signed the Handover Certificate of the China-Aided Anti-COVID-19 Medical Supplies Project. The materials are supposed to end up in Saint James.
