China Development Bank provides $70.6 million loan to CJSC TK Mobile for CDMA National Network Project In December 2006, China Development Bank (CDB) provided a US $70.6 million loan to Closed Joint-Stock Company CJSC TK Mobile (a Tajik-Chinese mobile phone operator).
The loan was meant to be used to finance the CDMA National Network Project and the purchasing of equipment and services from ZTE. The loan carried a maturity of 9-years.
In May 2009, ZTE provided a guarantee by pledging its 51% equity interest in CJSC TK Mobile as the provision of guarantee, with a term from the date on which the Agreement on the Pledge of Equity Interests is executed and becomes effective to the date on which the debts owed by CJSC TK Mobile under the financing documents were fully repaid.
The CDMA National Network Project entailed the purchase of telecommunications equipment, relevant software and services for the construction of the code-division multiple access (CDMA) 800M national network in Tajikistan.
1. CJSC TK Mobile is a telecommunications operator established in Tajikistan in December 2003 as a joint venture by ZTE and Service Svyaz Komplect (‘‘CCK’’) with a registered capital of US$4,000,000. ZTE held a 51% ownership stake and CCK owned a 49% ownership stake.
