Grant Description

On 16 December 2015, the Chinese Government signed an exchange of letters with the Government of Ecuador for the provision of a non-intrusive goods inspection system worth 52.2 million RMB. The Mapa de Cooperación lists the executing agency as the Chinese Embassy. This equipment will be used by the National Customs Service of Ecuador (SENAE) at Guayaquil Port.

The 52.2 million RMB will be provided from ETCAs signed on 2 June 2006, 20 November 2007, 21 December 2011, and 28 September 2012 (see #35814, #88148, #88179, and #64954 respectively). The funds will be transferred from an account set up between China Development Bank and the Central Bank of Ecuador.

The exact breakdown of funds between the ETCAs is unknown.

However, because some of the ETCAs that funded other projects, it is known that a maximum of 9.3 million RMB was provided by the June 2006 agreement, a maximum of 6.55 million RMB was provided by the November 2007 agreement, a minimum of 6.35 million RMB was provided by the December 2011 agreement, and a minimum of 6.35 million RMB was provided by the September 2012 agreement.
