People's Republic of China Signs 20 Million Yuan Grant to the Government of Colombia through and Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement (May 2012)

On May 9, 2012 the People's Republic of China signed an Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement with the Government of Colombia which encompasses a grant of 20 million Yuan.

The Presidential Office of International Cooperation of Colombia (Agencia Presidencial de Cooperacion Internacional de Colombia) and the Chinese Development Bank will be in charge of banking proceedures associated with the grant.

The projects to be funded were not set at the time of signing, but rather would be determined by the two governments at a later date.

It is unclear where the money ultimately went, but the Asociacion Ambiente y Sociedad noted several ETCA-funded projects that this agreement could have potentially funded, including training on hydraulic technology (see, potentially, #69470), the donation of cars for public entities (see, potentially, Record ID#46967), the donation of computers to DIAN (see Record ID#39444), the donation of two aircrafts to the Air Force, and a donation for the implementation of the Magdalena River Development Master Plan (Plan Maestro de Aprovechamiento del Río Magdalena, see Record ID#36653) On the day of the signing, the two governments also signed other bilateral agreements such as a Free Trade Agreement.
