Grant Description
Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Special Fund provides USD 7.378 million loan to Myanmar for 19 projects in 2019 On January 23, 2019, the Chinese Government and Government of Myanmar signed a second project agreement under the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Special Fund worth USD 7.378 million. The borrowing terms are unknown.
The purpose of this loan was to finance 19 different projects in Myanmar related to rural development and poverty reduction, fish product processing, cross-border animal and animal product trade quarantine, rubber cultivation and production, sustainable seed testing network, silkworm research and development, agricultural books, a library system, water quality assessment, ICT development, agricultural and rural data statistics, food safety, and trafficking in persons.
Record ID#63882 records the 2nd batch of agricultural projects. Reportedly the amount for those projects is $5 million. However, it is unclear how the rest of the money is allocated.
On August 11, 2021, Myanmar received funds from China for 21 projects under the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) Special Fund.
An agreement on the transfer of the funds was signed by Myanmar's Foreign Affairs Minister U Wunna Maung Lwin and Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Chen Hai.
