According to a dataset of foreign-financed projects that Syria’s State Planning Commission (SPC) provided to UNDP Syria in May 2011, the Chinese Government provided a $500,000 grant to the Government of Syria’s Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform in January 2006 to combat and control H5N1 (avian influenza).
