Grant Description

Armenia - IRRIGATED AGRICULTURE PROJECT (INFRASTRUCTURE) - Infrastructure Activity: This activity (original budget: $113.2 million; total disbursed: $121.5 million) sought to improve dilapidated irrigation infrastructure in order to expand the agricultural land area under irrigated production and improve the overall efficiency of sourcing and delivering water to farmers.

The activity addressed these issues by rehabilitating major sections of the country's main canal systems, modernizing some of the most urgently needed pumping stations, introducing new gravity irrigation schemes, rebuilding tertiary canals, and restoring sections of the drainage system in the Ararat Valley.
